Nude Run

The Danish videos linked below reminded me that we are going to hold a nude 5k at Olive Dell Ranch the 3rd weekend of April, 2010, called the Bare Burro 5k. I think this will be California’s first nude 5k. Hopefully some of you will be able to attend. Mark April 17th on your calendar.

Olive Dell Ranch – November 28, 2009

It was cold and rainy at Olive Dell Ranch Saturday, November 28th 2009. Still, I took the chance during one of the few sunny breaks to work nude on a new trail off the entrance to the Olive Dell Nature Trail (which I am also revitalizing) at the back of Dellymaze Park. I discovered an area of giant boulders that look like huge dinosaur eggs, so I removed lots of brush and wound the trail down through the rocks, before looping it back into the Nature Trail. Another day digging and it should be completed. PJ and I haven’t decided on a name for this trail yet – any suggestions?

Also, it was nice to have Mike Springhiker visit us for the day – even though the weather was bad. PJ gave him a tour of Dellmaze Park, and then he and I took a three-mile freehike on the Picnic Table Loop Trail. Freehiking is enjoyable even when it’s a little cool. It was great talking and getting to know him better. We then ate a naked supper in the restaurant and watched a movie before he had to leave for the evening.

We love our naturist friends, and enjoy making new ones. You’re all welcome to visit us at Olive Dell Resort. You’ve got to see Dellymaze Park; it’s become quit the attraction. And let us know you are coming so we can get you in for free.

Oh, by-the-way, I’ve been thinking about starting up a Skinny Tripper group is Southern California that actually travels and visits places - gets together for freehikes, parties, etc. It’s great to be at Olive Dell, and we’ve been totally consumed with the resort and the Park when we’re not working, but I sometimes feel the need to get away as well. In Utah we planned organized freehikes twice a month. Twice a month sounds like a good plan - maybe one freehike, and then one Skinny activity of another type. Anyone interested is joining in?

It’s getting light and the day looks nicer. When it warms up I think I’ll try to finish the new trail (still looking for a name). Nude karaoke tonight, about 6:30 pm. Hope to see you all there.

Naturist Spa Party

We just returned from a Naturist Spa Party and potluck in Central California attended by 14 people of equal genders. The hosts were a doctor and his lady friend. They BBQ' d delicious ribs, served Margarita's, and were perfect hosts. They own a very secluded park like property on about 6 acres overlooking a canyon with a waterfall - very scenic looking from the pool and deck. One person drove drove 125 miles to attend the party. The other 13 were locals only driving up to about 30 miles.

Skinny Home Parties

Winter is a great time to practice naturism with others indoors. (After all, it’s too cold to go outdoors, at least in snow country.) In January 2009 PJ and I attended several skinny home parties with friends, and I thought it might be nice to share what home parties are like for those who might want to attend/hold one.

A naturist home party starts with an invitation. You may have naturist friends who will invite you to a party – get on the phone. If not, invite some friends over to your own skinny home party – get brave.

You’ll probably want to have something to do at your party, although just getting together to relax and talk is fun too. The parties we attended in January involved a few friends talking, eating, watching a slide show of past naturist activities, and soaking in a hot tub. (By the way, you don’t need a hot tub as an excuse to get naked at the party.) In the past PJ and I have often played UNO or done Nude Karaoke (the most fun nude activity of all in our opinion). Others like to get together to watch movies or sports. Some celebrate holidays - we enjoyed a Nude Thanksgiving with friends.

So want happens at a skinny party? Well, you go to the friend’s house (they usually answer the door nude - they’re naturists after all - or in a robe to avoid startling the neighborhood), take off your clothes, and join in the activities. Except for taking off your clothes, nothing is really different than a clothed party. Naturists live a naked lifestyle after all, so nude is simply how they are.

Of course, getting nude is the biggest hurdle for some people. They think that being naked with friends will seem weird or sexy somehow, and it might for first-timers, but for experienced naturists it’s just having fun with friends. So getting comfortable is easy - attend a few skinny home parties, and you too will be an experienced naturist.

I’m convinced naturist friends are better, closer, more dependable friends because there are no artificial barriers to stop communication. Some of our friends traveled for five hours to attend one party we attended. Naturists are like that. They are rare, so they are willing to travel to be with others who understand.

Wouldn’t it be nice if everyone understood? One of our friends introduced naturism to several people in their neighborhood so people could walk to the party. We've shared our understanding of naturism with friends from work, and a few have attended. We all should be more open about who we are and invite our textile friends to participate.

So I challenge all to invite their friends to a skinny home party while it’s still cold outside. Then we will know each other better when we all get together for Skinny Trips this summer. (In fact, that would be a great topic to discuss at a skinny home party – show some slides of past skinny trips and plan what might be done this coming year.)

Nude Parties

Nude Parties are fun, especially at Thanksgiving time, and this topic is especially relevant now that the weather is cooler.

We enjoyed a nude Thanksgiving day with PJ, Harrow, Kitty, and Lee in Southern Utah several years ago. We freehiked in the morning and after ate a great dinner. Last Sunday we enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner at the resort as well.

This summer many people visited our place at Olive Dell Ranch, and we often enjoyed playing board games on our deck (naked of course).

We’ve sponsored monthly Nude Karaoke nights at our place in the past, and have been holding Nude Karaoke at Olive Dell most every Sunday. Everyone is welcome to attend. In our opinion Nude karaoke is the funnest nude activity of all.

We’ve sponsored and attended many naturist parties. We’ll attend one again on the 15th in the Salt Lake City area.

Many of our friends enjoy Nude Parties. Here is what Cherie reports:

“I did just attend a fun nude superbowl party near Chandler, AZ. . . They have a really great labyrinth to walk through and benches in the center to sit on and meditate. We had a great time. It was sponsored by the Canyon State Naturists. . . So here's more details of the home party...it . . . seemed to be out in the middle of nowhere, but a great place with a posting (I can't remember exactly what it said) stating that it was a private nudist community. There were a few homes/mobile homes in the area, great space to walk, with a blocked fence all around for privacy. The labyrinth was made by a guy as a dedication to his deceased wife...I think it was cancer. Very well built. We walked it at halftime. Most people undressed, some partial, and some remained clothed. The air was a little cool, but being from Utah I thought it wasn't bad at all and remained nude the whole time, as the last person to remain nude the whole time! I'm a die hard, and will stay nude till the last possible minute. . . Earlier in January, I also attended another home party in Tucson with the Buff-A-Teers. Big lot, with cars parked strategically to block, we sat on lawn chairs outside. Ate great food, played home made very large Jenga (take a mallet and knock out blocks so that the next person makes the whole thing tumble). I was the one who made the whole 6 ft. tower of blocks tumble. It was fun. The guy who's house it was . . . had made a nice size pond with gazebo, sitting area, walkways, and soon a bridge across the pond that we all walked around. We did have to cover up as there was a neighbor across the way. We drew for gifts as another Christmas thing, ate some more, chatted, and went home. Very comfortable weather - not to warm but not too cool.” – Cherie

Naked Home Parties in Prague

"Since the weather turned south back in November here in Prague, I have hosted two naked home parties at my flat and both were a great success. As with last year, these are billed as "movie" nights. It's more about socializing than anything else but everyone has enjoyed themselves. We watch a new release and then just hang out and chat afterwords. No one has been in a real hurry to leave as, aside from the weekly nude swims, it is the only time we all have to be naked. "

Family Swimming Pool

“This summer we bought a doughboy (sp) pool for our back yard. So for the months of June through Aug my children would go swimming at least once everyday. So in mid July I told my wife the Boys didn't really need to wear swim suits, to which she agreed. I said well if they don't need to then I don't, she said yeah that's true. While our backyard is not totally private (we have one European family's house that looks into our back yard), still all the rest are relatively blocked by landscaping. The boys for two months went swimming everyday nude and they LOVED it! I lead the way by stripping down first and then they shortly followed, (they are 5, 8, and 11) and continued everyday, I would usually only join them once a week or so.

My 16 yr old daughter wanted to join us but was afraid her mother would be to hard to live with so she would come out and watch but never dove in. She just kept saying I can't wait until I'm 18. So it wasn't great for her but it was definitely a good beginning and it was definitely a great summer of swimming! Who knows what this next summer will bring!!” - BC

Nude Pool - Money Well Spent

“. . . we decided that we would buy us a pool this year. After the financing of our huge 15' round by 3' deep pool, (100 dollars, Big Lots special) we realized it was going to be a wonderful summer. Labor Day weekend was the kickoff. Our friends . . . Pioneer, his wife and 2 kids came up and we had our inaugural soak for the length of the three-day weekend. It was fantastic. But so as to make it complete, we did do clothed activities as well. . . we were naked at least the majority of the afternoons, this summer and that the best money we spent was on that Hundred dollar pool.” – Kevin

Nude Lawn Mowing

Interesting experience from another egroup concerning backyard nudity in Logan, Utah. Anyone have an opinion or experience related to this incident? Anyone else mow the lawn nude? I have.

"A number of years ago I was mowing my back lawn in the nude. My back yard has a 6 foot wood fence and vegetation. A neighbor riding his lawn mower over a mound saw me and called the cops. When the police arrived they asked why I was nude and I replied I was a nudist and I will be nude in my home and privacy fenced back yard. To not be able to do so destroys my privacy and property rights. They told me that nudity in the house is ok but questioned outside. The decision of whether to file any charges or not would be the decision of the county attorney. The story made the front page of the Logan Herald Journal and radio the next day including locating my address to within a few hundred feet. I contacted the Naturist Society, AANR and an attorney. Nothing ever came of it and I still mow my back lawn nude but with a little more caution and even more vegetation."

Aside from the behavior of the neighbor in calling the cops, the most disturbing part of the story is that it made the front page of the newspaper. How pathetic that they don't have more serious issues to grapple with.

Naturism is Good for Families

Living at Olive Dell Ranch, my wife and I have witnessed many positive examples of family naturism. Here are a few:

“We’ve met several people who have lived at Olive Dell Ranch for years. The oldest current member joined in 1958. As I came back from a freehike I met and talked briefly with Al and Missy, barbequing nude, who have lived as naturists at Olive Dell for over 50 years. We soaked with David who has lived continuously at the resort for 25 years. We met a young couple who just had a new baby. The mom was raised at the resort. We’ve met several teenagers who have been raised as naturists at the resort. It’s a world apart, but in my estimation, a very good way to live.”

“Soon after we moved a trailer to Olive Dell, two local girls (16 & 5) came by to meet us. The oldest talked about her experience being raised a naturist her entire life. About a dozen kids of various ages live at, or come to the resort with their parents. She is being home schooled currently, but used to attend school in Redlands; she had invited her friends to the resort in the past and one had come. We envied her chance to group up as a naturist.”

“After reaching a healthy level of exhaustion gardening one evening, we drove down to the clubhouse, took a shower, and joined a small group of people in the spa – ah, how warm water relaxes sore muscles. Over time the spa filled with 25 people – many who we hadn’t previously met, and several first-time couples. Most interesting, three older children (9 and 10) joined us. They were received naturally without comment and were very well behaved. They enjoyed running from the spa to the (cold) pool where they jumped high into the air and landed with a splash – no swimming suits and no anxiousness about enjoying the water naked with several dozen adults.”

“We walked down to the pool for a swim, and a soak in the spa. One of the dads at the resort, Matt, was playing in the water with four children – baby, three, five, and ten. It was such fun watching a naked family at play in the water. The three-year-old was especially fun. He was so unconsciously natural splashing, looking through the fence, and playing hide-and-seek from his dad. Mom was also in and around the pool area.”

“There were quite a few people floating and talking in the pool today. Several ladies were visiting from Arizona, but it turned out they were very familiar with Olive Dell, having been raised here as a child. They laughed about the boys from her high school in the 1970s who would drive up and streak “clothed” through the resort. (When we had arrived this morning we noticed that the kids from the resort had slept out on the owner’s trampoline. They were now swimming and splashing naked with us in the pool. What a grand place to grow up.)”

“At times it’s wonderfully amazing living at a naturist resort. Yesterday I grabbed a shovel and walked down to hill to extend the trail from our garden. Even in the late afternoon heat I realized again how much I love nude gardening After about an hour I saw several kids walking up to hill to visit the garden. (They’re probably about 10 years old.) The boy was nude, carrying a towel. The girl wore an open-front sarong. Just two naturist kids enjoying each other’s company visiting our fun garden. They said hi, and explained how much they liked what we are doing. They especially liked the alligators hidden by the maze. Otherwise, they pretty much disregarded the naked old couple working in the garden. The girl took off her sarong and they laid on a large flat rock in the garden while they talked. After a while they got up and went to talk with my wife who was nude, painting on the deck by the trailer. They sat for some time on the deck, watching the birds – all three naked. After a while, the boy walked down the trail to examine my progress. Then they said goodbye and headed back to the clubhouse, carrying towel and sarong. Later in the evening I saw the two friends riding bikes. They had put on pants, but were both topless. What a wonderful way to grow up, playing with naked friends of both sexes, and thinking nothing of it.”

“After dinner my wife stayed to talk about dieting and exercise with Mary Lou while I returned to finish clearing a trail in our park. While I was working, two girls (age 10 & 12) came to the park to visit. We talked while I worked and they walked the new trail. Then they headed down the hill to play with several other children on the volleyball court below. It’s fun to watch naturist children who are so unconscious being with friends and adults without clothing. The world’s fears of nudity and abuse don’t even seem to cross their minds. The world would be a better place if everyone were raised as nudists.”

“It was very hot this July weekend, so we spent more time than normal in the pool floating and talking with other naturists. We met three ladies, a mother who was celebrating her 87th birthday, and her two daughters. They were from Arizona and Texas. It turns out they were long-time members of Olive Dell Ranch. The mother had lived at the resort with her husband and daughters, starting in 1965. It was fun listening to the daughters tell about good times they had growing up at a naturist resort. The daughter’s husbands will not attend a nudist resort. One is a bashful Texan, and the other thinks it’s sinful. They just made light of the situation mentioning how much their husbands missed, and how much fun they had as a mother and daughters. It's sad about the husbands, but inspiring to meet a family unit where naturism took.”

“One evening Mary Lou and David dropped by and sat naked around the table on the deck talking, eating cherries and popcorn, and drinking soda, until it got dark. I commented on how great it was to see the kids so unconsciously enjoying themselves as naked friends. Mary Lou seem a little surprised at my reaction, but commented how her kids were raised as naturists and thought nothing about being naked with the family. Why couldn’t I have been raised that way? Life is so short, and I missed so much – too bad. But it’s wonderful to have finally found a better, more natural approach to life.”

“Sitting on our deck, we enjoyed watching a visiting family (dad, mom, and two probably 12 year old twin daughters) play a game of tennis nude. Three kids (a boy and two girls about 10 years old) who live at the resort dropped by to visit and see progress on our garden. Unconsciously playing naked with good friends - growing up as naturists – a blessing I wish I’d experienced.”
“As we were walking a new trail in our garden, two of the kids (aged about ten) from the resort showed up for a visit. They joined us on our naked tour of the new trails. I’m always amazed how unconsciously kids at the resort accept nudity. They don’t even seem to think about it. It’s just natural for them as they have been raised as naturists. What a wonderful way to be brought up and to live.”

“David came by to discuss the game we’ve been developing together, and a 10 year old girl dropped by, so we enlisted her in trying out the game. She seemed to have fun – even though she had to play it with two old naked guys. (The dynamics at a naturist resort never cease to amaze.)”

Get Out and Get Natural in the Woods

Olive Dell Ranch - Oct 18-20, 2009

PJ and I arrived at Olive Dell Ranch just before 8:00 am and unexpectedly found Randall (a member of Skinny Trippers) already waiting at the gate to join our weekly freehike. Attendance at the group freehikes has been light lately so he and I hiked alone.

We took a little different trail, past the water tower, up the straightaway, clear to the top valley, and then down the ridge that looks out on Riche Canyon. It made for a great loop, though longer than I usually hike. (I’d definitely recommend this route for a little longer hike.)

The weather was perfect for freehiking. It was cool, but definitely warm enough for an enjoyable hike. There was hardly a cloud in the sky, with very little mist or fog, so we could see the entire valley and the mountains beyond.

It was nice talking and getting to know more about Randall as we freehiked. He’s apparently hiked all over the mountains in California, and to most of the peaks.

He mentioned that his wife had asked him to learn to slow down and relax, so he’d decided to become a naturist. I invited him to bring his wife (somewhat reluctant) up to Olive Dell on a cooler weekend when she would be unlikely to see “naked” people so she could meet PJ and I, tour Dellymaze Park, enjoy a meal, and play a game with us. Perhaps making naturist friends would help her feel less self-conscious, and help her understand we’re not a bunch of freaks.

After eating a nice nude breakfast in the restaurant, Randal decided to hang out by the pool while I helped Dave clear a spot for a shed. (Working naked makes working a lot more enjoyable.) PJ worked in the Park.

As I was digging at Dave’s new site Andrew (another Skinny Tripper) drove by, and stopped to say Hi. It was great to see him again (we didn’t expect his visit either). I directed him to the Park so PJ could give him a tour of all that had happened since his last visit.

A little while later I walked up to the trailer for a drink, and visited with Andrew and also Randall who came up a few minutes later. It’s so enjoyable visiting with naked friends in the shade on our deck.

I then returned to working at Dave’s place. Randall stopped to say goodbye a little later. Fully worn down helping Dave, PJ and I walked down for a shower, and said goodbye to Andrew who was enjoying the sun on the deck by the pool.

(Did I mention how much I enjoy showering at naturist resorts? It’s one of my favorite activities. It’s especially wonderful to get your back washed by your wife every time you shower together.)

We then got dressed and drove into Corona to visit for the evening with F . . . and family. One of their daughters had a birthday party. They are naturists and briefly talked about their family (all six kids) vacation to La Guna Del Sol this past summer. We invited them to visit us at Olive Dell, and they said they’d like to, especially because it is so family friendly.

We returned to our trailer in time for a nice naked evening together watching TV.

Northeast Washington State

“I was able to take three camping trips in Northeast Washington State this summer. I camped at Canyon Creek Campground (a 2 hour drive north of Spokane) and then ventured out from there on my mountain bike. There are hundred of logging roads off of Highway 20 from Kettle Falls to Republic. This year I was able to ride my mountain bike on several of these deserted roads nude. I'm very cautious when it comes to wide open areas that I think I can be seen. I seldom ran into anyone because of it's remoteness (not sure that is a word). Many of the roads were pretty steep for me to ride, so I ended up freehiking up most of the hills. But the ride down was worth it. On Sherman Creek Road I saw a bear cub running across the road. I waited a few minutes to make sure the mother wasn't too far behind, but I never saw her. I was also able to go down to my favorite creek and spend a good part of the day nude. The last day there I noticed a big birch tree downed by a beaver. I realize that most of the readers here probably won't ever make it to this part of the USA, but if you do, it's worth the trip.” - John

Olive Dell Ranch - Sept. 13-16, 2009

PJ and I arose early to arrive at Olive Dell Ranch in order to arrive before the 8:00 am group freehike that we lead. No one was waiting for the hike at the chapel, so I hiked the Loop Trail above the resort by myself. Often people say they’ll come on a group freehike only to forget or chicken out for some other reason at the last minute, even at a nudist resort – strange.

Freehiking is such a wonderful way to start a day. The day was very overcast, with a cooler fall feeling in the air - perfect for freehiking. I didn’t see much wildlife, but did notice a few fall wildflowers. It’s hard to imagine why anyone would object to freehiking after having once tried it. Freehiking feels so wonderful and is such great exercise.

On my return I spoke to Sandy, naked, outside her trailer about today’s announcement of the membership board elections. She served on the board this year, and is up for reelection. We’re nominated, so I expect we’ll be elected. I’m not so sure that’s a good thing, but I do have plans I’d like to make happen.

Returning to the trailer, I watered plants in our Dellymaze Park. Then I spent three grueling hours digging a trail across the mountain, through a cliff; I ended up with lots of rock for lining trails. It was exhausting, but still enjoyable - naked makes difficult gardening wonderful. I wore out just in time to take a shower, eat some lunch in the restaurant, and attend the board meeting.

So, the results are in, and we are now members of Olive Dell Ranch’s membership board. We attended a “get going” meeting after the main membership meeting – it looks like we can have a fun time and help get lots done.

After lunch Dave showed up needing help moving the shed to our site. I spent the rest of the day, the next morning, and Wednesday morning helping him jack up the shed, get it on a flatbed trailer, and moved on to our site.

Hard work of any kind is almost better done naked. I went to bed totally exhausted, and PJ talked about her afternoon, which sounded much more fun.

A video producer/director was at Olive Dell this weekend shooting a pilot for a reality TV show following three nudist families, to be called “Naked Lives”. On Sunday afternoon they brought one of the children being raised at the resort to Dellymaze Park to shoot her at play. PJ explained how fun it was to watch her play naked in the Park as they shot video.

One of the producers, a young woman, had worked on the previous film they had shot at the resort in the Spring (her first time at a nudist park). She mentioned how she had since become a naturist at home, and enjoyed coming to the resort.

She also said that they loved the garden we are creating, and wanted to film us if the pilot gets picked up. We’ll definitely think about that. It sounds fun, but would certainly destroy any anonymity we have now.

As always, life is a happy place at Olive Dell Ranch.

Freehiking Visit to Olive Dell Ranch - Oct. 2009

“Was in LA for a conference and called Ken to see when they'd be at Olive Dell. . . I changed my schedule and headed up there, arriving late (about 10pm) on Sunday. Ken met me at the gate, and I parked near the bottom of the DellyMaze (amazing) park/series of trails with Disneyesque characters, niches, coves and surprises for kids of all ages. . . Got up early . . . for a 3 mile freehike beginning about 8:30 am. Ken knows the trails around there like the back of his hand. Saw some wild burros and great views of the valley below.” - Joe

My Labor Day Visit to Olive Dell Ranch - 2009

While having attended numerous nude swims in Salt Lake and spent a short time at a family nudist resort in Idaho, I never fully experienced or understood what true "naturism" was until my Visit to Olive Dell Ranch.

I was anxious to have new nude experiences over the the labor day weekend but wasn't sure where to find them. After hooking up with Ken thought the Yahoo nude Utah group I found my way down to California.

Olive Dell was not what I expected. I expected it to be a place where people visited on weekends to get naked and relax, but it turned out to be a place that many call home. Many people live there full -time. It is as much a "Nudist Community" than a Nudist Resort.

I spent my first day by the pool and attending the Nude Dance at Night. The Music was good but I did not dance because everybody was 40 years older than me. haha. I also was still getting used to the enviornment and was getting to know the people there.

Sunday (day#2) started off with a freehike with Ken. It was great to hear his perspective on naturism and how it has helped him in his life. It was my first time hiking nude and it felt great. I had no worry in the world.

The Hike was followed by a game of Nude Tennis with George, a really nice guy from San Diego area. I spent alot of the day chatting with him and his girlfriend poolside.

The Best part of this trip was making new friends (Ken, Jane, George) and gaining a greater understanding of Naturism.

I had a couple of insights during my trip:

1. I am more self-consious of my body when I am wearing a swim suit in public than when I am naked around naturists.

2. Sexuality of bodies dissolves as a person partipates in naturism.

3. Naturists for the most part are good, nice, and welcoming people.

4. People don't and won't inderstand naturism unless they themselves participate in it. This is the only way to understand it.

5. Most people look better with clothes on.

Freehiking on Public Property Sould Be Legal

Labor Day at Olive Dell Ranch - 2009

Labor Day weekend was especially nice this year. Saturday we had to work, but a new naturist friend, Jared, drove down to Southern California from Salt Lake City, so after lunch I drove up to Olive Dell Ranch to meet him and let him in. It was nice to get nude on a working day. We sat on the deck for a few minutes to talk and get to know each other, and then I took him on a walking tour of our garden (Dellymaze Park) and the resort. I told him he was welcome to stay in our trailer. Then I had to leave to return to work, but I understand he enjoyed the dance that evening.

As our guest, his visit was free. Anyone else interested in visiting us at Olive Dell?

Sunday we arrived just in time for Jared and me to take a morning freehike. We hiked the Loop Trail to the picnic table and back. The weather was beautiful and the skies were clear so we had a beautiful view of the Inland Empire cities and the San Bernardino Mountains. I showed him where I planned to build a nude disc golf course. He’s an experienced disc golfer, approved of the site, and said he work like to help design it. (Next year we should all be able to meet for a game of nude disc golf – any interest?)

Freehiking is such a joy, and it’s wonderful to share this joy with new friends.

Jared played tennis with George from San Diego. We ate a naked breakfast in the resort restaurant, swam, met friends, talked, and generally had a nice time.

Ralph and Jeanie from Fontana arrived for a visit after lunch – very nice folk. Naturist friends are the best! Katherine had planned to attend, but work got in the way so she was forced to miss.

That evening we all attended Olive Dell’s largest event of the year – the Luau. The food was great, and the Pacific Island dancers were fantastic. The dancers were dressed and the audience was nude - interesting. The performers didn’t seem to mind. What a great show; definitely worth the money. Everyone needs to attend next year if they can.

Monday morning Jared had to leave for Utah early. I took a freehike with George, and Fred, another new friend who’d traveled from Richfield Utah with his wife. George is quite a talker and very active (he has his own fitness business) so we kind of lost track of our speed and I think we about walked Fred’s feet off – sorry. We took the loop Trail again. Our freehike was very enjoyable.

I took George and Fred on a tour of Dellymaze park when we returned. Later they both brought their wives to visit the park. We definitely enjoyed these new naturist friends. Too soon they had to leave to return to their homes.

Our Labor Day weekend was great! We enjoyed a nice naked evening watching 24 again. Tuesday morning we got up early, watered the garden, and headed down to work as we had to get in early for a meeting. It’s always sad to leave our happy place to go to the “real’ world. Hopefully it won’t be long before we’ll be able to live full-time at the resort as we will likely soon have a new job.

Thoughts About Olive Dell Ranch - August 2009

We had arrived early in the morning of August 27, 2009, and I took my normal freehike from our trailer around the loop trail in the hills above the resort – about three miles. No one else came for the hike, but I go anyway. It is so relaxing – the mind is freed from all worries, and hiking nude is perhaps my most creative time to think. Today I considered those things PJ and I could do to contribute to the success of Olive Dell as board members. Eight things came to mind:

1. Continue at least weekly group freehikes at the resort.

2. Continue building Dellymaze Park. (This has already become quite an attraction at the resort.)

3. Sponsor the first annual “Bare Burro” nude 5k run/walk the spring of 2010 (probably the end of April – maybe Spring Break).

4. Revitalize Howard’s (an old member) nature trail. I’ve hiked it several time - it is overgrown and many of the vegetation identification signs have blown over, but it has the potential to be the best nude nature trail in California.

5. Introduce “Nude Deck Karaoke” to be held at least once a week on different resident’s deck. This could include those who enjoy paying instruments and drumming.

6. Build a Disc Golf course in the meadows above the resort. The site is perfect!

7. Start an “Afternoon in the Park” concert series (including perhaps a play) to be held in the outdoor amp theater at the resort.

8. Make Olive Dell more business friendly. This would start with installing high speed Internet, and encouraging naturist-friendly businesses. Several residents already work from the resort, and several actors live there. PJ and I are staring our own business enterprise from the resort. I suspect other naturist-friendly businesses could thrive at Olive Dell since it is so close to resources and major California markets.
